Nenea Iancu

This beer was launched in 2012, the “Caragiale Year”, on the occasion of the 160th year-jubilee of the great playwright’s birth.

Ion Luca Caragiale, also known as “Nenea Iancu” is less known as a brewer. But he was famous for this passion of his at the end of the 19th century. The master brewers of the time would brew this beverage using recipes brought from Germany, the traditional home country of beer.

We revived the 1900 spirit of beer produced for Nenea Iancu's breweries, by a long forgotten traditional recipe, that of the 45-day natural fermentation. And in order to comply with the so-called "Deutsche Reinheitsgebot", that is the 1516 German Beer Purity Act, this beer is brewed right in the heart of Germany in the Land of Bavaria.

Nenea Iancu Nenea Iancu Special Blond Beer 4,9% 50cl

Nenea Iancu Special Blond is a golden yellow Bavarian Lager beer that surprises us from the beginning, with its dense and creamy foam that persists for a long time. The light, sweet and slightly bitter taste is combined with the balanced aroma of malt and ripe grains. The velvety texture and fine carbonation completes this beer.

Nenea Iancu Nenea Iancu White Unfiltered Beer 5,5% 50cl

This is a golden-yellow unfiltered white wheat beer, with consistent white foam that stays in the glass until the end.

Its beginning is gentle, wrapped by the flavor of bananas perfectly complemented by hops, cloves and grains aroma. The end, peculiarly light and refreshing, surprises one with the fine aroma of spicy tart and citrus-flavored taste.

The smell of fruits, tropical fruits and spices completes the unmistakable character of this exceptional beer.

This dark lager is the archetypal Bavarian beer, like in the old days. It tastes like fried malt, defined by the velvety sweetness alleviated by the bitter taste of hops. The foam reproduces the color of caramel, with a very fine malt scent and a flavor one cannot get enough of.
